    Blender Weekend Challenge 🍄

Are you open-minded enough to try something this weekend?

Last week, I challenged you to model a Tea Pot, It presented some simple, yet unique modeling and shading challenges. You rocked it!

This week, I found this bench while walking along a beach. Figuring it out presents fun challenges and texturing and encourages the usage of instancing.

I want to challenge you to model this object 100% in Blender. Share it on the CG Cookie forum thread below.

Had a go at this one, used fspy to match the camera instead of trying to just eyeball the proportions.

I’m a day late but I finally got finished.  I have a long way to go learning wise.

Finally finished up my bench this evening. Really seems the selling point on this one was the texture of the boards, kind of a tough one to nail. Nice to see so many others give this one a try!

I picked up Geoscatter during the Blender Market sale this summer and finally put it to good use just to help fill in the background, already a big fan of it.

A couple things I thought really made a difference outside of the textures was adding volume scatter with a tiny density and using a lattice on the bench to give it the slightest sag.

I can already tell modeling random objects like this is something I should’ve started doing a lot sooner. I’ve ran through lots of courses and was getting discouraged thinking I may only be learning a copy and paste type process. These weekly challenges have helped me push through that, applying things from the courses and forcing me to pick up new things along the way, gotta say I’m really enjoying it.
