Freshly Baked Weekly Challenge 10 – Wyze Camera

Hey there Blender fanatics, 

I’m pretty excited about this weeks modeling challenge. Yesterday I was lucky enough to see the new Alien movie. I’m a sucker for this IP and all things cassette-sci-fi style. Chunky and dirty sci-fi: push buttons, toggle switches, etc.. 

My son found our older WYZE camera and I felt it was a perfect candidate for these challenges! 

A relatively simple model, with a few details that could be challenging to approach. I also left it a bit dirty to see if we can replicate some of story of this has been around for a while.

A stretch goal I think would be to attempt a couple different colors, or nail the dirt on the plastic. 

I want to challenge you to model this object 100% in Blender. Please share it on the CG Cookie forum thread below.

The challenge on this one is primarily the texturing work and then all the little modeling details. Cool one.

Some of those details could be achieved with the help of modeling a hard drive lesson from Fundamentals of Mesh Modeling  and/or the SESSIONS: Laptop

What a fun challenge, I took a pause from the CORE course, to test if anything had stuck. 

Everything is Blender, except the label, I used Affinity photo to create the qr code and the text.
