      Following along video 3 with source file. Trying to assign materials to faces–when I switch to Edit mode with Overlay on I get these pink lines at every vertex. What am I doing wrong?

        just an off hand observation it looks like viewport display of particle system hair…

          Ah, you’re not doing anything wrong, I just had the display for the normals turned on. You can turn it off in the overlays in Edit Mode:

          I’ve updated the source files to now have that off when you open the file.
