      Hi there,

Camera Depth of Field Settings F-Stop 2.8 focus the left eye of the Portrait

I lost the details from the Portrait Skin. It’s also the same when I shut off the volumetric lights.

What can I do to get the Portrait more sharp at the focussed eye and the near facearea around?

here the rendering without the volumetric lights and the sparclesht-scene-12b-web.png

and here you can see the same without DOFht-scene-12c-web.png

        Hi Sabine @Arielle ,

Increase the F-stop Value (DOF also depends on the size of your model).

Also make sure that the Focus is at the right point; if you set the Eye as Focus Object, it will take the Origin of the eye as focal point. Place the Cursor on the eye (the default behavior is set to Surface Project, so the Cursor will be placed at the Surface of the eye) and then Add an Empty and use that Empty as the Focus Object.

oh, yes that was the reason! I had to set the Origin in place, it was at the floor, and increased the F-Stop from 2.8 to 4.2 Thank you 🙂

Now maybe I try a version with bigger SparcleDots in different colors.

Also with the camera selected, you can turn on Limits in your viewport display. A crosshair will appear and when you move the focus distance, you will be able to visualize where the focus of the camera is at.

I have written an article for exactly this kind of question, its not quite ready for publication, however I know there are loads of Blenderers out there, with a similar question, that will benefit from the article.

@Adrian Bellworthy good Idea, I got confused while viewing a Video about this Theme. It said increasing the value at F-Stop makes the image more blurry. And that’s not what I wanted. I misunderstood the Message of the Video. So it’s really important to make things in Tutorials 200% clear.
