cockpit is out of shape

Hallo

When I try to extrude the wings also my cockpit goes off. It happens with the shrinkwrap. I made a video.

Every time when I add the Vertex Group it bends… can’t figure out why…

Hi Martin,

I’m intrigued:

It looks as if the ‘Body’ of the Plane stops being Shrinkwrapped when you enable the Vertex Group influence (it ‘grows bigger’).

Double-check your Vertex Group and maybe post a link to your .blend…

Thank you for your help. I started over again btw with a new file and it happened again…. very strange, couldn’t figure out what the cause for this is.

I added the whole body except the wings to the vertex group and it’s working correctly. Also applied the mirror modifier but I think that didn’t make any difference.

Hey Martin,

I haven’t rewatched the tutoorial, so I don’t know how Jonathan did this part, but I think you don’t want the wings to Shrinkwrap to the Body, so that Vertex Group should be excluded from the Modifier:

The way you had it set up, only the Wings were Shrinkwrapped to the Body.

Martin, Oar, Thank you… I understood Jonathans process not correctly…. again become aware that I should look at lessons beforehand and than start modeling. 😉
