This week has been insanely tough, i had to do a lot of stuff for school, including 3D models for my school’s final project and a hecking demonic mad insanely big 60 page report about handball because i’m bad at physical education and failed it.
Now that things have calmed down, tomorrow i might start posting again!
I kind of tried out the anime steins gate and… got extremly addicted to it haha so i didn’t really do anything this weekend besides it.
Since time has past i kind of lost interest on the character i was doing and i’ll probably start a new one tomorow. Thing is, i absolutely love anime and stylized characters so i’ll probably only be doing those for a while.
Anyway today i wanted to sculpt a face but without having any references, sculpting out of my imagination

@tabbyr I normally stop at this point of the sculpture because i have no idea how to take it to the next level yet
@tabbyr Your sculptures are getting better and better, you should definitely try the realistic character creation course by Kent.
@baukepost Thank you for recommendation Bauke Post, that’s actually one of the few courses I haven’t watched about sculpting here in cg cookie because when it came out i saw it was mostly time lapse based, and back then i was even newbier than i am now so i didn’t really like timelapses, although right now i prefer time lapses because i already knoew the technical stuff! The problem is i can’t really afford a subscription now, i’ll check it out as soon as i can!
Regarding “Your sculptures are getting better and better”, thank you for saying that, it means a lot to me! I’ve been noticing that too as i sculpt, wchich is a huge confidence boost!
I can’t really wait for tomorrow to do this so i’ve already started my new character production, and the character is none other than Zero Two from Darling in the Franxx! (tear dropping anime by the way).
I concluded the base mesh process but now i have to go to sleep, classes tomorrow so scultping will also only start tomorrow. I might also add that this is a posed sculpture like last time, sculpting asymmetrically awaits me.

I spent 3 hours of my free time just to sculpt this little bit and oh my… things are still looking sooooo alien, but not near as bad as in the middle of the process, the character almost looked like the face of the hulk in the 2003’s movie dare i say.
Well, i’m excited to see how tomorrow’s upgrades will look and i can’t wait to get to the hair and clothing parts, since i’m pretty much always doing faces.

Most depressing news came to me at midday, i had classes the whole afternoon so i didn’t have much time to do things, i started trying to make the hair and i must say it’s proving to be very dificult but i will eventually do it i hope.
Also, with the presentation of my school’s final project in the next week, i will put on hold this personal project to fine tune the school one which right now is definetily a priority 🙁
@tabbyr I’d say if you did just a tiny bit of work each day, you could still make a bit of progress. I find that there’s always a little bit of time left. It’s one of the 7 habits of highly effective artists: daily work.
School’s over so i took a summer break to relax (last days of school were super intense and exhausting but it paid of cause i got a 19 out of 20 score on school’s final project which was a videogame and now i entered videogame university course which will start in aboout 2 months)
I think i’m getting better. I took a ton of reference images into pure ref to study them and see what i was doing wrong, slowly but surely i’m getting better :3

that last render looks kinda creepy

based on a demon 2D illustration i saw on artstation
Oh i remembered i had to do a character head for my school’s final project game, so since it was going for production i did texturing too in substance painter

it’s purpose was a jumpscare like a jack in the box
I’m now studying how anime can be brought to 3D and actually looking good, so i can finish my 02 sculpture in style 🙂
I think i’m making progress. This is unfinished but it’s what i’ve done today. (spent a lot of time exploring the shapes on the face, i will still try to make it better)
Artwork that i’m referencing (i don’t know who did this to credit the artist):

@tabbyr the progress tonight at 5 am (and last time working on this character, this was supposed to be just a anime head study but i decided to test if doing the rest helped with the feel of the reference, still though i made the rest pretty fast and incomplete, anyway modelling clothes is so haaard specially in posed scultpures like this, i got the habit of doing posed sculptures from Kent’s Stylized Character class):

By the way I didn’t sculpt the arms and hands, they are only done with the skin modifier (i love using it, it’s like a very hard stategy game with a big time save reward).
I also didn’t do eyes because i see that in most anime character sculpting videos they are not modelled but painted, so i wanted to try it out
Male head practice, WIP (was beggining the ears) but i have to sleep, it’s already 5 am
