can’t use any of the blue or red sculpt tools. stuck.

can’t use anything with the multires modifier on. I tried subdivide modifier and applied it, but still nothing. 

The clay tool barely works like someone who only does the minimum job after he gets pushed to do what he’s supposed to do. All other blue tools are awol.

Try  File > Defaults > Load Factory Settings. If you try to sculpt on a more complex (than a subdivided Cube or so) model, you can Append that. If that still doesn’t work…are you using a Tablet?

After a whole day wasted yesterday, I shut down my laptop for the night (which I haven’t done in months. I usually just sleep it), and today all the sculpting tool works. So I don’t know if that had to do with it.

@talkingskunk I know this is late and you already got it working again, but something that you are describing happened to me today (actually not even the first time and I know this even happens sometimes to experienced sculptors) and it took me almost ten minutes to figure out what it was:

I forgot that I had some Axes Locked:
