Cant Deselect an edge line with shift alt

Hello i have to deselect an edge line in the tutorial but shift alt dont deselect. I notice alt do nothing in my blender. Have an idea?

I found the solution. You need to disable emulate 3 buttons mouse

Yes, when you use emulate middle mouse button alt+left mouse button acts as the middle mouse button. to select edge loops you have to use double click left mouse button.

Yeah it’s always better to just get a 3 button mouse, even if it’s a cheap one. All the hoops you have to go through when that emulate feature is enabled it’s just not worth it.

On Linux we have this great ability to use the OS Key instead of the ALT, when using Emulate 3 Button Mouse:

That option is only on Linux? Doesn’t matter my windows manager(xfwm4) or desktop environment(face) captures it so that didn’t work for me. I have a 3 button mouse now and haven’t tried it on my Linux mint cinnamon.
