Blender Pumpkin Carving Challenge

I have submitted my final render to the competition now. If I understand correctly, all I needed to do was to put the project as “final” in the category “Contest and challenges” to enter the competition. If there are more steps involved, please feel free to correct me.

Howdy!

I fully intended on animating it, but I learned how little render-efficient my scene was after I was nearly done, so the 8 minutes per frame (before any fog) kinda put it off to next year. I might still render a “moving still frame” as Kent called it on one of the Sessions. We’ll see. I’ll update the project if it happens. 

I guess I have to learn to be less “trigger happy” with the remesh button, or just learn how to do some fast retopo. I’m hoping the Human course will have great insight on sculpt optimization. That should be my next one, along with rigging. I’ve been having a lot of fun with this and now feel like creating and rigging characters to make silly little animations.

I ended up cutting the amount of pumpkins so I could render a short animation, here’s the result. Not sure if I can add to the same challenge entry, but since it was my Fundamentals of Compositing exercise submission I ended up making a separate project for it. We have Omar to thank for the pumpkin’s name 😂

Can i use materials pack, or do i have to create them myself aswell?

@FoulerSix ooh! ahh! Well it is CORE fundamentals challenge, the aim is to level up your skills through this challenge. It would benefit you if you have a go at creating some materials of your own.
Nothing fancy is required, but I encourage you to give it a shot.
