Just an FYI after I copied the Bevel Modifier to the Speakers from the Console I could not get the Bevel Weight to work (at 4:09 on video). After toying around and even restarting the exercise from the beginning I was still stumped but finally got it to work after going into Object Mode on the Speakers and pressing Ctrl+A and ‘Apply All Transforms’ then going back into edit mode it worked. Just in case anyone else gets frustrated. 😉 In the end we ended up deleting the face anyways to add holes for the speakers, so it is kind of a moot point, but I didn’t want anyone else pulling their hair out like I did so I decided to post this work around.

(***UPDATE: DO NOT USE ‘Apply All Transforms’!

Use Ctrl+A and go to ‘Apply Scale’ instead!***)

        Hi Mike,

Never do that (Applying All Transforms) again! (You got lucky here, because your model was not Rotated or Translated.)

        The rules for Meshes are:

Always (and this is very important) Apply the Scale.

Don’t Apply the Rotation, unless you absolutely have to.

        And never Apply the Location.

You might eventually run into a situation, where you may break one of those rules, but that is pretty rare.

As Martin says, you got lucky somehow. Applying all the transforms is tricky, like giving a lightsaber to a youngling on his first day of Jedi training. At least they got robot hands in the future.

The Force must have been with me. In a universe of multiple options and ways to fix the same problem in Blender due to its amazing versatility, I spun in a circle with my eyes closed and landed my finger on a button that just-so-happened to work. Being new to Blender is literally like being given one of those Do-It-Yourself Chemistry Kits you had when you were a kid. You can do a lot of cool stuff, but you can also blow up your house. Training is important, and knowing the right techniques will save you from a lot of headaches in the future. Thank you to Martin and Omar for cautioning and providing guidance. I am sure I will manage to break something eventually and look forward to our future communiques.
