Bevel operation vs Bevel Modifier

Is there any disadventage of using Bevel modifier over the Bevel tool to sharpen the edges?  I see that you have better control over the mesh. Is this method not recommended?

I rarely never use the bevel modifier just because I’m used to the bevel operator. That’s not to say the bevel modifier isn’t valid – a lot of good modelers use that instead. In general, yes I like the maximum control that the operator offers for a ‘hero’ asset like this. For background (less important) models I would consider the modifier approach.
