At 16:10 – Jonathan snaps the extrude but snapping isn’t turned on

What is actually being done to snap here cos snapping isn’t turned on. Even if I turn on snapping and hold CTL snapping still doesn’t work for me other than with the selected object itself

When snapping is turned on, if you hold control you disable it as you hold control, if sapping is turned off and you hold control, you enable it as you hold control. JL is using snap with control there to snap to the vertex.
