Are there any guidelines for when to use an emission map as opposed to putting an actual light object in? Are emission maps a little better in terms of performance at the sacrifice of some realism?

I’d have to double check but I’m fairly certain emission maps are far more efficient. Lights can cast shadows and can be a bit more dynamic so they’ll eat up more performance.
