Oh I see what you mean. Normal maps are generally preferred, but imo the noticeable differences between normal maps (purple-y) and bump maps (greyscale) can be negligible:

If you look closely, there are differences but it’s not that big of a deal if you ask me, especially not in this situation. Still, a greyscale bump map can always be converted to a purple-y normal map if desired. But I’ve never seen someone paint a straight-up normal map. That’d be a mind-bender 😅
