Alternatives to using photoshop to create stencils/stickers etc.

Hihi, I’ve finally finished what I believe to be all of the texturing for Noodle Head. (Aside from going in and using a brush to texture)

Now I’d like to apply stencils, and probably stickers to it, like we did for the “surface hot” for Pot Head. I don’t have photoshop on my comp unfortunately. My girlfiend does, and she has said I can use hers. However to save me jumping back and forth around the room from my comp to hers and back, are there alternatives I can use? 

In saying that, I am very comfortable using PS so I feel I will end up doing that anyway – But I just thought to ask!

Yes! Krita is an awesome free alternative.

Don’t tell anyone I said this, but also you can use AI to create decals. It does a terrible job but there’s always that option. If you get caught using AI I will deny any involvement.

*huddles around in a circle and whispers* Terrible how? Like terrible in a way that they look rubbish and/or lame? Or terrible in a format/data way that makes them difficult to use in software?

Well terrible in that it produces muddy results, kinda like unintelligible, but the shapes are there and it looks like decals. Although maybe since we were asking it to make construction warning decals, it was having a hard time with it. Maybe the prompts you need will yield better results.

I use Gimp and Krita is good as well.

If you don’t mind doing it online there’s also https://www.photopea.com/ I hear good things about it, supposedly very similar to photoshop.

Gimp and Krita are the best free options though. Gimps UI is a bit dated though, I find.

If you are feeling really adventurous you can create 2D elements from scratch right inside Blender!

Krita is a solid choice for a free alternative to Photoshop’s more “painterly” functions.

Perpetual license options include Affinity Designer (sort of a vector/raster mix) and Clip Studio Paint (has a perpetual license and sub option).
