Adding new clay after the sculpture has dried

I’m partway through my Melvin scultpure and the clay has hardened overnight. Should I heat up the figurine before adding more monster clay? Will new clay have a problem bonding to the sculpture if it’s added later?

If it’s oil based clay you should be okay, I think, maybe just a heat lamp and scoring it up should do the trick.

If it’s water based you’re out of luck.

Thanks for the tip, good to know if I use water based in the future. I had a feeling it probably varies by medium. I went ahead and tried adding more clay later that day (oil based monster clay that came with the kit) and it adhered to the sculpture without any problems.
