    Blender Weekend Challenge 🍄

Last week’s challenge was not for the faint of heart. It required a bit of modeling and taking on the 3D space.

This week, I will simplify it while challenging you with the materials.

I found this little one in our basement, a plushie from my kids. Although generally simple to model/sculpt, nailing the plushie look will require some of you to work with materials.

I want to challenge you to model this object 100% in Blender. Share it below.

    Happy Blending!

i’m entering the race with this little one 🙂

unfortunately the little guy looks very stiff and clunky and i made some mistakes when modeling but i’m still happy with the look.

It was actually more challenging than I thought.  it’s nice that there’s something different every week.

Here’s my try at creating a plushie.

I know this was a hard one, and you both tackled it!

@wod – nicely done on the materials, it does look a little stiff, but also good as it could be a freshly stuffed one! Well before my kids got a hold of it.

@lokisparky – Kudos for taking this on. The materials and lighting are really what sell this model. Overall I like that you took on the challenge to model the features. I believe if the eyes were 50% smaller and the weight of the mouth, it would look pretty close to the reference. Almost like one of those plastic squeaker toys.

See you both on next weeks! I’m frantically looking around my house. 😉

I got it the final one. I thought it wouldn’t finish, but I did trying to the end and was happy with the final rendering.

Wow Le that looks incredible realistic, I was like where the render at? Super great job.

              Yay, thanks, Omar!
It was rendered 100% in Blender. I used the Cycle engine for the rendering. Loving these challenges and heading to the next one which will take some time.

Agreed. Great work Phu Le! Anyone have reference to a tutorial on getting those textures right for this? I’d love to know how to make these textures if not terribly difficult.

Well I guess the main one would be the Fundamentals of texturing:

                  https://cgcookie.com/courses/fundamentals-of-texturing-in-blender

And in Pothead there’s lots of good texturing:

It’s also worth mentioning Kaizen 3D (Instructor helping us out with CORE) also has a pretty great Plushie tutorial on Youtube – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAFx7wJkq0I

Ah. that Kaizen 3D is enough to get me going with what I want to do. Thank you!!
