Thank you, @jlampel, for the tip to use the “Ambient Occlusion” node with “Inside” checked for sending “AO-Rays” to the inner side of the object! Combined with a “Color Ramp”, I get this:

a) With “Edge Bevel”

b) Without “Edge Bevel”
