@frikkr My apologies: The decision to reverse thread pagination was intentional. As mentioned it came about from the Backhoe thread which is an exceptionally long thread. It seemed like a simple enough change that made sense for that context but it seems likely that we implemented the change too soon or in a less-than-ideal way.
I think this issue is indeed made worse by the fact that thread notifications seem to have a problem linking directly to the relevant reply, defaulting instead to the first page every time. In hindsight I’m thinking this needs to be solved first.
I will talk with @nphaskins today about getting this sorted!
