Hello, I’m trying to learn retopology for hard surfaces, and to practice before an upcoming client project.
Is Bsurfaces still relevant in Blender 4.3+ in 2025? I’ve had it crash several times on me now when trying to follow this tutorial.
For context, I often received CAD models from clients as a start towards creating 3D product visualizations. The mesh is usually a mess and needs work. I thought this Hard Surface Retopology course would be the most efficient way to learn a good process.

If you’re doing client work, the very best idea would be to invest in the best tool for retop in Blender, Retopoflow:

I think the most comprehensive retopology session would be in the Sci-Fi Helmet course, but it’s also an older course. Full of timeless knowledge though:

To be honest, I have never used BSurfaces, but as far as I know, it still works more or less the same as in 2.66.

The workflow shown in this Course is till perfectly valid. And apart from the Courses mentioned by Omar, there is also this one, covering the basics of Retopology:           https://cgcookie.com/courses/introduction-to-retopology

Thank you Martin and Omar for the info and recommendations! I am looking into both those courses. I’m not sure why I didn’t find them when I searched.

            Very helpful!
