According to Pablo Vasquez on his Blender Today livestream, the 2.8 team expects to finally push out the beta this week, most likely in the next day or two. As with the alpha and alpha2, the “beta” mostly means the label on the splash screen will change, but otherwise for most of us little else will – new builds will continue to be released regularly just like during the alpha. The Python API will be finalized around the same time so addon makers can update those.
Local View (using the Slash “/” key) is back again!
For wireframe mode, there has been a slight hotkey change – now Z opens the view-type pie menu and Shift-Z toggles X-ray mode.
Neat one: Ctrl-Tab now switches a Dope Sheet to a Graph Editor and vice versa. Not needing both of these on your screen at the same time should be a great space saver when animating!
