Hello Doran. Hmm, well the only thing that comes to my mind is just practicing a lot, eventually your stroke should get better. You only have to be patience. Right now try it over and over on the coat of the character as best you can, if you don’t like it, start again, until you get close enough that you’re satisfied with it. Then move on, and as you do more sculpting and 3D things, as time passes, without realizing it you’ll have the skills and then come back to your file again and nail it the way you always wanted to. Just practice a lot man, it’s how we all get better, don’t give up. Hopefully though, when the others add their comments here, maybe they’ll also point out a sculpting tool that could make it easier.
