The Mirror Modifier works perfectly, so:
Maybe your Origin is not exactly in the ‘middle’, or your model (ie. the console itself) is not completely centered….
It is possible, that you did something else wrong, but I can’t think of anything. Add a screenshot (preferably the whole UI, including the Modifer) if you’re still stuck.
