Usually you beginning messing around with Blender just because you like it. I think if you get on board with how to capitalize Blender right away, you might run the risk of getting demotivated fast. Mainly because this 3D stuff is hard and it takes a while to learn it and even after you’re good at it, it takes a while to get clients and that sort of thing. Of course that is not always the case, I think I started to do freelance one and a half or two years in after starting to learn Blender. Of course I look back at my old work and I cringe.
So try to focus first on the learning and discovering part, which is the fun part, so you can learn not only fast, but well enough. We’re here to help you if you get stuck, but all the while of course not getting to the point of doing too much hand holding which is a hindrance to your learning. CG Cookie is really the best place to learn Blender on the internet.
