CGCookie levels are unlikely to mean anything outside the CGCookie community.
They’re a good way to maybe track your progress and/or bragging rights in the community and/or a way to see how experienced and/or how fast somebody in the community is progressing.
An employer is likely to look at:
a) Recent college grads
b) Your portfolio
c) Maybe a specific program. Not a CGCookie course, but something by an art institute that has a reputation, even if it isn’t an accredited degree. (Caution on the latter. These can be expensive, and it’s difficult to rate how well the industry really rates the program.)
From what I can gather you can’t directly take your work at CGCookie and present it to an employer. For instance, even if you did a spectacular job at. . . PotHead, or one of the Melvin animations, they’re recognizably CGCookie assets and something you’ve been walked through.
You could take what you learned from those courses and make a PotHead like character and/or a Melvin like animation and use that as part of your demo reel.
