Totally understandable and you’ve received so much beautiful advice. I will also say don’t be afraid explore. When I follow a tutorial, I follow twice or as many times as I can, that is to say, I follow using the native version that was taught (if I do have that version) and then I follow using the recent version. Or I just follow the lesson while figuring out how to do it in the recent version (it’s fun dunno about you).
