    Not sure what would’ve happened, but my guess is it would’ve ignored the SSS parts. I doubt Blender would switch by itself without some sort of confirmation or setting from the user. But seems a moot point as it should be included now http://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/10984/gpu-cuda-volume-and-sss-support
