    I have a theory that because Kent’s monitor has a high resolution, I’m guessing ultra HD or quad HD, in comparison to a standard definition monitor(like mine), the pixel based relative detail option is much smaller on his mesh as it would be on mine even when the mesh is the same distance away from the view. This would cause brush strokes on lower res monitors to possess less geometry than those on higher res screens. I could be wrong, but I faced similar problems like this following some photoshop courses, dealing with brush sizes and image sizes.
