Check out the Fundamentals of Dynamics course, this is a great course to learn about physics in Blender.
Chapter 5 covers cloth, it is an older course, but the basics are the same.
With any physics simulation in Blender, in take a lot of trail and error until you find the settings you need. This course will help you understand what each of the settings does. And there are exercises to help practise.
