Hi Charles – My apologies for any confusion. The idea behind this exercise is simply to explore Blender + Cycles lighting tools for different situations: Day VS Night. Hopefully the exercise will give you practice in analyzing the difference between daytime lighting and nighttime lighting as well as how to apply that analysis practically with Blender + Cycles.
