Every animator has a tendency to either go under or over in their first passes at things.
I would say that most animators tend to go under (myself included) and then are constantly told to push it further (ie – bigger, faster, more extreme etc).
Some animators are told to bring it back a little, but they are far fewer in number.
The second one is better imo as the seem not to be afraid to take bigger risks and create more exiting results.
But you need not worry too much. The fact that you have noticed your tendency is a sign that you have good metacognition and can work on moving towards what you want to achieve.
This art form is a journey. You never get to the end, but you are always getting closer (hopefully haha)
