    Homework Submission Week 1:

For my submission, I decided to sculpt the face of one of my friends. This is really the first time I’ve sculpted a face to this refined state; usually I just do half finished sketches. That being said, I’m quite happy with the result! I wasn’t sure how I was going to exaggerate the features, as I was getting a bit overwhelmed at first. But, I just focused on getting down one shape at a time with semi-realistic proportions and then exaggerated them from there.

Overall, I think I captured the likeness pretty well, but need to learn more about the polishing stage. There are a few areas that I think are a bit muddled or undefined, as well as a few forms that aren’t anatomically correct. I had a lot of fun doing this and can’t wait for the rest of the class.

As for the concept, would it be okay if I submitted it with next week’s homework submission? I’d like to work on a character design myself, but haven’t made much headway yet.

Thanks for checking out my work!
