Hi @pattybhat ,

I only use the Knife Cut Tool (and the Knife Project) in one of the main Orthographic Views (Top, Bottom, Front, etc.).

For what you describe, it might be better to use the Bisect Tool (‘hidden’ under the Knife Tool):

Mind that you need to Select the Mesh (or at least the part you want to cut through)  for this tool to work.

You can also find this in the Mesh Menu.
