In that case, the lappets probably didn’t get Parented to the Empty (‘box’).
Thanks for adding a timestamp, by the way, I did this Course ages ago…
The method should still work mostly the same in 4.2 (apart from the fact that we no longer have Groups…).
If you still can’t get it to work after re-checking the Parenting, you can post a link to your .blend file (via Dropbox, Googledrive, or so) here and we’ll have a look at what’s happening.
