You don’t need to do it for every project! In the case of the industrial design course, each piece is relatively simple and easy to modify. If you watch Kent sculpt a character on the other hand, he starts out simple and then adds detail later, and it’s the same type of process here. It’s up to you if you want to block something out or not, but the more complex the shape the more it’ll be helpful and save time in the long run.
