I wasn’t able to watch the video yet (time constraint), but maybe my experience will help you out:

If you want your vertex colors to show up, first thing is you need to add a vertex color channel like so…

Then, to get a really basic vertex color setup, here is the node layout. Make sure “name” under the attribute node is the same thing you named the vertex color label above! (In my case “Col” works well.)

Give this a try and see what happens. 🙂
