This is not business as usual! It shouldn’t be happening to a stable release of Blender.
The M2 MAX also shouldn’t be a problem.
When uninstalling software often some files are left behind, uninstall all versions of Blender again and then navigate to the file location where Blender was removed from and manually delete anything left behind. Now try installing Blender 4.2 and see if it works.
If it still fails, there maybe a hardware issue, do you have any issues with other apps? Closing or crashing unexpectedly or randomly?
Other than that you could reach out to Blender support in case there is a bug or unsupported hardware issue we are not aware of.
