I am finding the same thing with sculpting, love it and I find it really enjoyable and relaxing. Just put on some music and chip away.
Regarding 2.8 sounds like those are bugs. I’m doing my sculpt in 2.79 personally as well. The sculpting part of 2.8 seems to be lagging behind in bug fixes a bit imo.
