      Hello!

I have a question regarding modular assets!

I modeled wallparts, inner and outer corners and UV unwrapped them. The artist made a texture and everything looks great in Unity.

Now I want to add some more props and items, like windows, doors, barrels, etc. that can be placed in the level.

Do I add the props to the same master blender file?

If so, how can I UV unwrap them when the UV space is already taken up by the walls?

Do I start a new texture and UV map for the props?

If so, how can I make sure that the texel density is about the same so it won’t look off in the game?

Hey Oliver, if they’re all part of the same level it makes sense that they can be in the same .blend file, and unless you are going to re-paint the other assets you’ll need to use a new texture. I really wouldn’t worry about it too much. For texel density, try assigning a UV grid to the walls, and then try to eyeball which common texture size on the props (512, 1024, 2048, etc…) most closely matches, but it doesn’t need to be exact.

I’d love to see the result when you’re finished!
