      I think I found a slightly faster way to fill in the faces for each of the planks.  

      *  click the outer face of a plank

      * while hovered over the face – click “L”

      * then finish with clicking  “F” to fill the open faces.  This fills all the empty faces.

      No need to hide surrounding planks.  I have F2 installed, so this might be a necessary ingredient.

        Thanks, I tried this and it seems to work well and yes F2 addon enabled.
