      After following your instructions of saving Cache and assigning it to another object, i selected the external cache from the second object. Now when i select “Path” in the Render-panel, Blender Closes without any warning. Im using 2.79.

        That definitely sounds like a bug causing a crash! If you’re using the latest version (2.79 or 2.8), you can report bugs here: https://developer.blender.org/
