Metric sizes don’t change in object mode?

When changing the scale of an object in object mode, it doesn’t seem to change the measured height in meters (which I just go to check in edit mode).
Does this matter when submitting the exercise? How can I change these sizes from object mode?

That won’t matter for this exercise, but try hitting Ctrl+A and applying the scale in object mode – that should make everything consistent.
