Unable to subdivide or loop cut and slide the left side of the house

I tried to subdivide the top left side of the house right at the corner but nothing happens exept it seems to drag something over from another part of the wall. I cant loop cut and slide that side of the wall either.

I’m not sure what’s going on just from that description, but seeing as this is the Modeling with Primitives exercise you shouldn’t need to be in edit mode anyway.
