Thank you, @waylow 😀! Now, it’s clear. You just have to know it 😉. Do you know, whether this new behaviour of “Make Proxy” in Blender 3.0.0 Alpha compared to Blender 2.8.0 (where it worked fine without the need to hide the original rig) is intentional and maybe connected to the introduction of “Make Library Overrides”? I don’t know what’s the difference in programming between a “Proxy” and a “Library Override”. For me, it’s just two different names for manipulating a linked object. I’ve asked Demeter Dzadik about this here on the Blender Cloud . He has tested the performance of overrides in the context of the creation of the Blender Foundation’s new “Sprite Fight” film. And he wrote me that it’s hard to explain the difference between “Make Proxy”and “Make Library Overrides” in a comment, but according to him “overrides are a more generic solution with hopefully fewer pitfalls and better performance, although some use cases are still being ironed out. “
