WIP – Day 2 – Flowers

Spent the day sitting at work and not getting anything done. Guess I am really looking forward to the weekend.
Was researching a lot during the evening and kept checking the overall progress of others to look for inspiration.
To be honest, I am struggling a bit, since the information about flowers in the artwork is not much more than a few splashes of paint in the grass.

I believe we will end up modelling and partially sculpting flowers with a fairly high complexity, baking the whole thing and bringing the information back to very simple geometry, which can be used in the final scene. Maybe even just blossoms on top of the grass without any additional structure. But it is too early to make decisions.

Here is one of today’s experiments with a higher vert-count. I’ve figured we can use some more geometry, if we are ending up baking the final result anyways:

Tomorrow I will look into the sapling addon to create plants for my smaller creations. Also I want to visit the particle system to figure out if it can be used for details on the blossoms and leaf-distribution.
