You would be animating for both (Film and games) either way and all the principles remain the same. The only difference would be with games you would need to be familiar with Unity and/or Unreal. Toon shading is not my forte but you see it in all forms of 3D. I always use this metaphor ” Cast your net wide” which means don’t limit yourself.
