        Oh wow, I totally forgot that was even an option. Simple would work great and would also be… more simple! Thanks for the reminder.

          Hi Jonathan. Thanks for your answer. I did an exercise and find this “subdivided cage” aproach does not work in some cases – sure it is a good way to fix distortion but this subdivision ruins some smooth shaded areas. For example if we create 12 edges extruded circle it should looks smooth with smooth shade turned on, but if we subdivide it with some hudge subdiv level (sure with “simple option”) we lost this smooth shade effect due to frequent geometry – so we get flat shaded looking normal map.

            Sorry I missed your reply, but that’s right. I guess it’s one reason to not use the Simple method as a shortcut – with Catmull-Clark you can manually set the smooth areas to not be creased so that you don’t run into that issue.
