Hi Jonathan, When I drop the BombSprite into my scene, somehow, it gets masked out by all other sprites in the scene (although the bomb is closer to the camera). Do you know why this is happening?

You can change the sorting layer. I mentioned this briefly in the course. If you have all the sprites on the same sorting layer sometimes some will be covered up. Either that or manually move the sprite closer to the camera.
