What file format? If it’s an SVG, I think there’s a plug in (not available currently on the 2.8 alpha, but is in 2.79 branches and earlier) that ill allow you to import SVG files and it does so as curves, which can then be extruded. Without more info on what you have and what you’re trying to achieve, hard to give more specific advice.
