I recently updated version 4.4 to 4.5 and my question is regarding the installation of new versions. Is it possible to inherit my previous configurations such as the interface or downloaded plugins when installing new versions?

The above is because I had to reinstall everything as well as configure my entire interface again. thank you

      Yes,

When you first open a new Version, Blender will ask you if you want to import the Settings from the earlier Version (if there is one). But when you miss that, you’ll have to find your userpref.blend< for me (Linux) it’s in the .config:

      Userpref.png

For your OS look here: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/4.5/advanced/blender_directory_layout.html

Delete the 4.5 userpref.blend and copy the one from 4.4 in there (or whatever versions are applicable).

As for the Addons, it f you got them from the Extensions, you should be fine. Otherwise, you might need to install them manually in the new Version.

I hope I got everything right, it’s been more than 12 years since I had to do this😉

I like the feeling of starting from scratch each time. Because we tend to install lots of stuff we end up not using and it all gets cluttered and longer to load, crashes all the time. So a fresh install for me is always the way to go, because it gets rid of excesses.

Unless you have completely scrubbed Blender from your system, you should have shared AppData and the new version – upon install – should ask if you want to keep those settings. Some things might not come across – often I have broken asset library data – but most preferences should be just fine. What OS are you running?
